For a while now one of my private projects has been the creation of a fantasy world, in a manner
perhaps most broadly popularized by Tolkien. This particular aspect of the project combines my interests in
fantasy writing and folklore by attempting to show pieces of that world through stories passed down by its
inhabitants. It is my hope that each story in its own right is self-contained, reveals something about the
people who told it, and has the feel of genuine folklore.
As always, questions, comments, and feedback are appreciated,
especially if it can help me to improve my work and make the Land of Nu into a better experience for its visitors.
On a far less scholastic note (which renders it down from nerdy to dorky in
nature), here are a few pages of my notes on how this particular setting is set up. If you must poke around here,
please do so after reading the stories above, so as to be able to do so without any buildup of preconceptions,
or harmful plaque, or whatever P words you personally may suffer from in such situations. I must admit that,
for the most part, the folk tales above are designed to read in a more "realistic" setting, while the world
itself partakes more strongly of a traditional fantasy flavor.
