To far horizons; affiliates and friends

My "other" site
Specifically, my Xanga blog.

LoaT
It's not every day an economist writes a sci-fi epic. In progress.

Recommended Sites, in No Particular Order

Malcolm Gladwell's page
If you want your thoughts to be provoked, read this guy's essays. Or his books. I did, and they didn't kill me.

Paul Graham Essays
The guy's main foci are somewhat outside most people's expertise or even knowledge, but some of the essays here are wonderfully thought-provoking. Recommended reading.

Judaism 101
So, what's this "Jewish" thing all about? you may ask. Keeping in mind that it's of an Orthodox bent, this is a truly excellent resource for the inquisitive gentile, the secular Jew, and visitors from alternate timelines.

Jeffrey's Kanji Lookup
This is far and away the most useful site I have ever seen for the (English-speaking) student of Japanese.

The LEO German-English Dictionary
Probably the most useful site for me during my time as a German major. As an added bonus, there are also German-Spanish and German-French dictionaries on the same site. If you're into that sort of thing.

XKCD
Blatantly simple art, staggeringly nerdy humor. This ranks among the best joke-a-day comics I've ever read, and that's counting Far Side.

Sluggy Freelance
This is one of the grandaddies of all webcomics, with years of elaborate and compelling backstory. Also, decent humor. Worth the time, but it'll take a lot of time.

Scary Go Round
I read this comic because it is good. Lots of dry British wit, slapstick British wit, silly British words, and absolutely absurd British spell-ings. Also may have characters and plots.

Questionable Content
I read a lot of webcomics, but these few are the niftiest. As the title implies, this one tackles some serious issues and has an off-beat sense of humor about much of it.

Azrael in Japan
A JET in Kyoto who joined the Programme two years before I did, and who has stories both wilder and more amusing than anything you're liable to hear from me. Hilarious, if a bit profane.

Honest Reporting
A powerful tool for anyone interested in Israel's right to, you know, exist and be depicted fairly by the news media.

Myth & Fact
Another Israel/Palestinian conflict-related site; this one will probably be a sobering wake-up call for the people who still think, "Gee, why don't they just quit fighting and get along?"

EchoEcho Tutorials
This site has been a great help and reference for me during the making of Nu.
